Are my language tags correct?
-
Hello,
I have a Spanish website for Spanish speaking people es.example.com. I also have example.com for all English speaking people across the world.
I want that users who go to google.es and search in English get our example.com site and others who search in Spanish on google.es get the Spanish site.
Should the tags be like this:
Or should we also have this tag aswell to specify? Otherwise we might only show the es.domain even for english queris? :
-
Both the hreflang looks correct if your site is targeting only :
- Spanish speaking users in Spain (hreflang="es-ES")
- English speaking users in Spain (hreflang="en-ES"
If you are targeting English speaking users no matter the country, then you should use the hreflang="en" and not "en-ES".
-
You can create an hreflang with codes "en-es", because "es" also is the iso code of Spain as country, so the hreflang "en-es" is English in Spain (albeit would be better writing en-ES, but Google is not caps sensitive from what I know).
Second... you don't need to use the hreflang in every page, only in the ones that really need it.
For instance, if a page is canonicalized to another, the best way to avoid potential hreflang implementation mistakes (for instance, for not using the canonical URLs in the hreflang annotations) is not implementing it at all... because for its same canonicalized nature.

Hi there!
Just to confirm (it was implied by the Google.es comment but international targeting was never specified) - are you looking to target Spanish speakers in Spain only? Or are you attempting to target Spanish speakers worldwide?
If you are looking to target Spanish speaks in Spain only, then yes, this would be correct.
If you are looking to target Spanish speakers globally, you would want the tag to be:
-
Hello!
yeap, those are correct.
And no, you should not create a hreflang tag with es-en. Remember that those tags must be in all pages, and have the self referential tag. Here a few resources to help you more:

X Default on hreflang tags
Hi guys, I would like to clarify something about hreflang markups and most importantly, x-default. Sample URLs:

http://www.example.com/au/collection/dresses (Australia)
http://www.example.com/us/collection/dresses (United States)
http://www.example.com/uk/collection/dresses (United Kingdom) Sample Markups: Questions:
1. Can I use my AU page as x default? I noticed that some x default are US. Note that my biggest market is AU though.
2. If I indeed use AU page as x default, and the user is searching from China, does it mean that Google will return my AU page?
3. Can you spot any issues with these markups I made? Anything that I need to correct. Keen to hear from you! Cheers,

Title Tags & Keyword Order
Hi I've read various articles on this - some saying it's still important to have the keyword at the beginning of the title and some saying it's not a big factor anymore? Does anyone have an opinion on this?

What happen if a canonical tag points to a noindex page?
Hello,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | fablau
I have question. We have hundreds of affiliates that have implemented our datafeed on their websites, and to avoid duplicate content issues we are requiring them to put a canonical tag on their own product pages pointing to our own original product page. So, for example, if an affiliate has a page about our Product 101, they will have to add a canonical tag pointing to the corresponding product page on our own website: www.ourwebsite.com/products/product101 Now, since many of our product pages have defined a "noindex" tag (due to Panda issues), may that be a problem? In other words: what kind of problems could cause having our affiliates defining a canonical tag on their own product pages pointing to the original product page on our website which have a "noindex" met tag defined? Maybe it is a stupid question we shouldn't worry about, but any thoughts about this scenario are very welcome! Thank you in advance.0 -
Anchor Tag around Table / Block
Our homepage (here) has four large promotional sections taking up most of the real estate. Each promo section has an image and styled text. We want each promo section to link to the appropriate page, so we created the promo sections as and wrapped each in an anchor. That works fine for users but I tried viewing our site in a text-only browser (Lynx) and couldn't follow those links! My fear is that GoogleBot can't follow them either and doesn't know what anchor text to pull. So, my question: What's the best way to make this entire block clickable, but still have it crawlable by robots? Or is our current implementation ok? For reference, here's a simplified version of the relevant code block: |

Multilingual sites: Canonical and Alternate tag implementation question
Hello, I would like some clarification about the correct implementation of the rel="alternate" tag and the canonical tag. The example given at http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=189077 recommends implementing the canonical tag on all region specific sub-domains, and have it point to the www version of the website Here's the example given by Google. My question is the following. Would this technique also apply if I have region specific sites site local TLD. In other words, if I have www.example.com, www.example.co.uk, www.example.ca – all with the same content in English, but prices and delivery options tailored for US, UK and Canada residents, should I go ahead and implement the canonical tag and alternate tag as follows: I am a bit concerned about canonicalizing an entire local TLD to the .com site.

Proper use and coding of rel = "canonical" tag
I'm working on a site that has pages for many wedding vendors. There are essentially 3 variations of the page for each vendor with only slightly different content, so they're showing up as "duplicate content" in my SEOmoz Campaign. Here's an example of the 3 variations: http://www.weddingreportsma.com/MA-wedding.cfm/vendorID/4161 http://www.weddingreportsma.com/MA-wedding.cfm?vendorID=4161&action=messageWrite http://www.weddingreportsma.com/MA-wedding.cfm?vendorID=4161&action=writeReview Because of this, we placed a rel="canoncial" tag in the second 2 pages to try to fix the problem. However, the coding does not seem to validate in the w3 html validator. I can't say I understand html well enough to understand the error the validator is pointing out. We also added a the following to the second 2 types of pages <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> Am I employing this tag correctly in this case? Here is a snippet of the code below. <html> <head> <title>Reviews on Astonishing Event, Inc from Somerset MAtitle> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="[/includes/style.css](view-source:http://www.weddingreportsma.com/includes/style.css)"> <link href="[http://www.weddingreportsma.com/MA-wedding.cfm/vendorID/4161](view-source:http://www.weddingreportsma.com/MA-wedding.cfm/vendorID/4161)" rel="canonical" /> <meta name="robots" content="noindex">

Shortening Keywords in a title tag
in my title tag i want to have: 3D Renders of Office Refurbishment & Interior Design Kent | Complete Group which unfortunatly is longer than 70 characters, however, to make it fit in 70 characters i could put: 3D Renders of Office Refurb & Interior Design Kent | Complete Group Notice that refurbishment has been changed to refurb, would this be ok for SEO purposes?
