I'm afraid that we aren't able to see what parameters you are adding to GWT, since we don't use that information in any way to crawl your site. We conduct a proprietary crawl of the site and report on exactly what your source code and server respond with.

Patrick is right that adding the canonical tags to your site (or using the robots.txt file to block the campaign pages) would clear up those errors in our crawler.

Since some dynamic URL generators can cause problems for crawlers, we do try to be overly-inclusive of these issues. We want people to know about potential issues with sites, even if they're not really issues in the scheme of the site owner's specific SEO implementation plan. In sum, we'd rather leave those judgments up to you. I hope this helps explain our thinking here!

I just wanted to clarify that this error isn't specific to the robots.txt file and can also indicate that we are being blocked by X-Robots Tag, HTTP Header, or Meta Robots Tag. Usually this error does indicate an actual issue with the site we are crawling rather than with our crawler.

The other Q&A post you mentioned is definitely an exception to that rule, but that issue was resolved in August 2014 and has not occurred again.

I hope that clears things up a bit. We are always happy to look into the specific issue causing the crawl error with a site, so I do agree that contacting the help team for these types of issues is often a good idea.

I just took a look at your campaign and I am actually getting a 300 http response for your robots.txt file in the browser and in a CURL request from our crawler: http://www.screencast.com/t/UjiIU0MD

The only responses we can accept from the robots.txt file as allowing access to your site are 200 and 404 responses. (301s are also okay if the target URL resolves as a 200 or 404.) Any other http response is considered as denying access to your site, so we aren't able to crawl the site due to the 300 response code we receive from the robots.txt file.

I am so sorry that you ran into this issue again. It looks like there were some after effects of the changes we've been making to stabilize the servers for OSE. The issue should be resolved now, but please let me know if you are still experiencing problems.

This is actually a related issue. In order to balance some of the load on our servers, we had to slow collection for the Just Discovered Links and Freshweb tools. We believe that we will be able to backfill the data, but there will be a delay in when the data will be available.

Regarding the duplicate titles, we only report that if the titles are 100% similar. It may not be considered a huge problem in terms of SEO, but we do still think it is important to report on it as it can have some effect on the pages competing against each other.

As for the duplicate content, campaigns have a 90% tolerance for duplicate content, which means they will flag any content that has 90% of the same code between pages. This includes all the source code on the page and not just the viewable text. Although the pages in question may appear to be different on the front end, they are actually duplicates based on this percentage (at least the example URLs I checked in your campaigns.)

We don't know what standard Google uses, but it's safe to say they are a bit more sophisticated than us - so you might be okay in this regard as long as you have a couple hundred words of unique text per page. Google won't say how much duplicate content is too much, so we think it's better to be safe than sorry.

I took a look at your crawl diagnostics and we aren't actually reporting the homepage http://venture.photo as missing the meta description. It looks like most of the pages with that error are the /tag/ or /category/ pages, http://venture.photo/tag/family-shoot for example. Looking at a few of those pages, I do see that we are correctly reporting that they are missing the meta description: http://www.screencast.com/t/bYlGJRw9

Some of the pages do have the code meta property="og:description", but our crawler only recognizes meta name="description", so we would not count the meta property as a meta description in our crawl report.

Hey There,

I'm afraid we aren't able to delete the credit card information from the account, because we actually don't have any access to it directly. We don't store any CC information in house. It's all stored under lock and key with our payment processor, authorize.net. Once you cancel your subscription we lose all ability to charge the card.

Hi there!

I took a look at your campaign and it seems that we crawled a lot more page of the site this week in general than we did the previous week. Two weeks ago, we crawled about 500 pages and this week the crawl jumped up to 2800. So it isn't that there are more duplicate pages on your site now, it is just that we are able to crawl more pages now than we were before, which led to us finding even more duplicate pages that had not been reported before.

As for why we are crawling so many more pages, it could be for a few reasons. If you made changes to the links on your site, the page hierarchy of the site, or if you remove noindex tags or updated the robots.txt file for the site, those things could all affect how we are able to crawl the site.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm afraid we don't currently have a plan to break out the links from the external C-blocks by C-block or IP. We base our product changes on the number of customer requests made for a feature and I'm afraid that this feature has only been requested once, so it hasn't been our focus to make this update to the data.

Again, I would recommend submitting a feature request for us to keep this data in the future and make it sortable by C-block. Here's the feature request forum we use to collect ideas:

At the Medium level, the page limits for the campaigns cannot be changed or customized. The campaign crawl limits can only be customized at the Large level and above.

In terms of our direct partners, when you publish a listing using Moz Local, the time it takes our partners to update the listing really depends on how long it takes them to accept the data we push to them and update the information across their servers. This can be anywhere from 1 to 8 weeks but generally is completed by around 4 weeks.

As for our Check Listing tool, that data is pulled live each time a check is run, so we display exactly what the different directories (including our partners) are providing through their backend APIs. It can take those directories up to 8 weeks  (with an average of about 4 weeks) anytime you update the data through the directories and engines directly.

Hey There,

You can definitely create monthly reports and even have them directly emailed to your clients if you would like! Right now, however, your account hasn't been active long enough for us to have monthly data, so you won't be able to create a monthly report until the October monthly data is compiled (which should happen on or before November 4th). Once that's done, you can follow the steps below to create the report.

You'll just need to create a custom report from here: http://www.screencast.com/t/bvNCRK8w
From there, you will be able to select the monthly time frame after the next month is updated.
After you've selected the monthly timeframe and added the modules, you can select for the report to run on a monthly basis and add any other emails you want the report to be sent to each month.

For monthly data, we update the account at the beginning of each month, so September data was updated between October 1-4 and October data will be updated between November 1-4. We do need at least 21 days of data to create a monthly report for the account so the campaigns you created on September 15th didn't have quite enough data to be included in the October update.

Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion. Our link index is not created using our crawl test or campaign crawls of a site. The index is actually a completely separate database compiled by crawling the web and following the links we find there. Your site will only be included in Open Site Explorer if we find links to your site from outside sources.

Just so you know, here's how we compile our index:

• We grab the most recent index.
• We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
• We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index).

Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index. Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many of reasons, including the crawl-ability of sites, the amount of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories.

As Pixelbypixel mentioned, Majestic SEO and Ahrefs often have a larger index than we do because their tools are exclusively focused on links, while we have a wide variety of tools with an overview of a site rather than on one specific aspect of SEO or marketing.

I took a look at the crawl test for www.nasscoinc.com and I've checked the site in our index, Open Site Explorer, and I do see that we have currently only indexed 2 internal pages on the site. This usually means that we haven't found enough high quality links to the site to consider the site valuable enough to fully index.

Mozscape focuses on a breadth-first approach. Therefore we almost always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages, and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. While we have found some external links to www.nasscoinc.com, we haven't really found any to the internal pages of the site and the links we have found to the homepage aren't very high quality links.

For now, the best thing you can do to help your domain become indexed is to work on link building for links from sites with high mozrank. If you need help with that, you may want to ask the Moz Q&A community about it.

Unfortunately, it looks like we aren't able to create a campaign for http://www.magallanes.cl because the server for that site is returning a 403 Forbidden error to our crawler: http://www.screencast.com/t/bVgWuFNvm.

I would recommend working with your webmaster to white-list our crawler, rogerbot, so that we are able to access your site. Once that is done, you should be able to create a campaign for your site with no issue.

Sorry that you are running into this issue with your campaign! Unfortunately, we can't track a site at specific path such as .html, so that may be why you are running into this issue. You should be receiving an error when you try to input that URL, and I am having my engineers look into why the error isn't showing correctly.

In order to track www.sweetlimeuk.com/index.html, you will actually need to create the campaign using the URL sweetlimeuk.com. You will receive a notice that this page redirects to the index.html page, but you can just select "No, track the redirect" to move past that. Unfortunately, our crawl test tool only tracks sites at the subdomain level, so you would need run the crawl test for www.bubblingwithenergy.info to get a full crawl of the site.

Thanks for writing in. We actually don't have a way to submit an XML sitemap and we only crawl the site by following the HTML links in the source code. From what I am seeing in your crawl, we are find very few unique internal links on your site, so we are only able to find unique 6 pages using the HTML links.

Unfortunately, it looks like the majority of your site is in Javascript, which our crawler is not able to parse, so we don't see any Javascript links on your site. I'm afraid that a site that is primarily in Java would not be compatible with our crawler.

I just took a look at both of the sites you are tracking in your campaign and I do see that we are showing internal links from each a site as inbound links in our index. Since you haven't included your sites directly in this public forum, I dont' want to provide screenshots that will show what they sites are, but you may just need to look a bit further down the list of links to see your internal inbound links.

For the two campaigns running for the same site, your internal inbound links start at a PA of 52 and for the other campaign they start at a PA of 47.

If you would like specific examples of these internal inbound links or if you are looking at another site in OSE and you prefer to keep those sites private, please email us at [email protected] so we can provide further details for you.

Hey Dan,

Unfortunately, our crawler is not able to access password protected content on your site. If you create a staging subdomain that is not password protected, you could use the robots.txt file to allow rogerbot and block other crawlers, but I'm afraid our crawler will not crawl anything that a normal search engine crawl would not be able to crawl so we cannot crawl password protected pages.

The metrics we show for social media shares are URL specific, so we aren't seeing any Facebook or Tweets of the specific URL www.riddelllaw.com and, if you view the top pages section, we show the social shares for the top 25 pages of the site, which also don't have Facebook or Twitter shares. All of the pages we show in OSE include the www in the URL (because the non-www version of the site redirects to the www version). However, I checked specifically the Twitter and Facebook pages for the site and all of the links to the site are shared as the non-www version of the URL: http://screencast.com/t/KMLrwCJHapB

Because the www and the non-www pages are considered as different pages, we would not show the shares of the non-www pages when you are looking up the www version of the site in OSE.

Paddy's right that it can be about 4-8 weeks to see the Just Discovered links show up in the main index, but we also had a delay in this most recent update so the data is not as fresh as it normally would be. Normally, the data in the index is collected for about three weeks prior to the update, while the data for this index is probably closer to 6 weeks. Even so, we began feeding sites and links into the scheduler to be included in the next index well before we start collecting data. This means that, even if we found your links in Just Discovered links 6 or 7 weeks ago, those links might not have made it into the scheduler for this most recent update. They should be in the schedule for our next update, however.

I would say that it can be several updates before you see the links from Just Discovered show up as fully established links in the index as a general rule. We are working on a project that will make the index update with much fresher data in the future.

Moz has been working really hard to improve the current toolset, both backend data collectors as well as many UI improvements. This has meant that we were not able to focus on adding multi-seat. However, now that many of these updates have been released, we are prioritizing new feature improvements such adding another user to your account. We are still in the preliminary stages of planning, and we do not have an ETA. We're sorry that we haven't gotten this out sooner, and we promise to keep everyone informed.
